Jointly Presented by SMART Business Solutions and Lauren Wild of Area Specialist, a lunchtime webinar on the impact of the 2026 Federal Budget tax reforms for residential property investors, plus live residential and commercial market updates from two local experts.

Thursday 29th October 2026 | 12:30pm–1:30pm | $20pp — 100% donated to Mornington Community Support Services | Online webinar, Mount Martha

Two measures from the 2026 Budget take effect on 1 July 2027. One limits negative gearing on established residential property. The other replaces the 50% capital gains tax discount with an inflation adjustment.

Whether either applies to you depends on when you bought, and a great deal of the published commentary has been wrong on the detail.  We will walk you through what's actually changed, the two dates that matter, what it costs in real terms, and where the new-build exception fits in.

In this session we will cover:

  • The two dates that determine whether you are affected
  • What the changes cost, worked through on a $1 million property
  • The one category of property exempt from both changes
  • Why houses and apartments give different answers
  • What is worth doing before 1 July 2027
